A new farmers’ market began its three week trial in Llandaff North with a car park full of stalls selling food and drink. Riverside Community Market Association organised the event, which will open again on 10 and 17 December from 3 to 6:30 pm in the Railway pub parking lot.

There are few issues in Llandaff North as contentious as the former Hawthorn Junior School building. Objectively, an architecturally uninteresting school building of which there are dozens in Cardiff, and hundreds in Wales. Subjectively, a building which has been the heart of Llandaff North village for more than 100 years and must not be lost. The pragmatic approach must lie between these two extremes.

[ November 16, 2010; 7:00 pm; ] The Save Hawthorn Junior School Building group will hold and urgent meeting on Tuesday 16 November from 7 pm at Llandaff North Community Centre on Hawthorn Road East. The meeting is prompted by Cardiff Council inviting expressions of interest in building, as Llandaff News reported on 10 Nov.

Boarded-up Hawthorn Junior School is up for sale on the Cardiff Council Property website, contrary to a local campaign to “Save the Hawthorn Junior School Building”.
Expressions of interest have been invited by Cardiff Council until noon on Monday 20 December, according to the website listing and council valuer Sue Singer.
