Editorial policy

Llandaff News aims to be a trusted place for the community to share information and opinions. That’s why we have a few policies to ensure what you see on this site is true, accurate and unique.

Contributions

Llandaff News welcomes contributions in all forms — written, audio, video, photographic or any new format you can dream up. Writing style may range from a first-person narrative, to a comment piece, to a third-person news story. In order to be considered for publication, we evaluate:

  • Factual accuracy and sources
  • Spelling and grammar in UK English
  • Copyright compliance
  • Free from offensive, commercial or pornographic content
  • Full transparency of any affiliations that overlap with the subject matter
  • Timeliness

We cannot guarantee publication, nor can we offer payment at this time. Your contribution may be edited to meet the guidelines noted above. When submitting your content to Llandaff News, you agree not to publish it elsewhere.

Unacceptable content

  • Plagairised content. If someone else produced it, you must credit them and link to the original work. See notes on sourcing and attribution.
  • Commercial content. Any content with the express interest of selling a product or service, or currying favour with a for-profit organisation or individual.
  • Public relations releases. Releases are a starting point from which to create content, not an end in themselves. Llandaff News does not reprint public relations releases in any format. Excerpts taken from releases must be fact checked and credited to the release. See notes on sourcing and attribution.
  • Fabricated content. Any content that is fictitious whilst portrayed as fact is wholly unacceptable.

Sources, attribution and linking

  • Individual sources must be identified by their full name. Details about the individual should be stated as they are relevant to the content. This may include working title, age, location of residency, nationality, etc. When possible, link to an individual’s relevant web presence, such as his or her profile on a company website, Twitter page, LinkedIn profile or personal website.
  • Reports and organisational literature used as source material must be identified clearly by title and publication date and linked to the specific web page.
  • References to information reported in previously published content must be credited to the publication and linked to the specific web page. This includes reports in video, audio or photographic formats.
  • All photos must be credited to the photographer; note full names of individuals pictured; name location shown; and list the date the photograph was taken.
  • All video or audio packages must be credited to the creators; note full names of individuals featured and spoken to; name the location shown; and list the date the video or audio was captured. This information may be given within the frame of the video, or it may be written in the article in which the video or audio is embedded.
  • Anonymous sources should only be used in rare instances when the information cannot be acquired from any other source and its value is warranted. The publication of an anonymous source must be cleared with the editor.

Republishing content

Content published on Llandaff News is copyright of Llandaff News. Creators of that content and users of the site are encouraged to link to content from their own websites and social media accounts. Llandaff News does not offer syndication of its content. Any excerpts republished beyond Llandaff News must credit the publication by name and link to the specific web page noted.
